“I’ve spent the past 5 days in the most magnificent of places, held in the wild nature of the jungle and sea, cared for in the delicious simplicity of healthful nourishment, inspired by a family-based community of people living with the land and walking the integrity of the values that ring true to so many of us.

Alongside my soul-sista @ellllliie, we surfed perfect waves by ourselves in glassy seas to our heart’s content. Spent afternoons wading through tide pools and collecting beach treasures, allowing the silence to settle into our minds. We practiced yoga on the cliffside deck with @amandabertucci overlooking miles of unadulterated deep blue and sky, as far as the eye could see. ”

“Christian and Ka’ale Sea have created a magical place at the edge of the world…in Sumba, Indonesia, far away from the hustle and bustle of Bali, Lombok, and other, more accessible places in that country. The surf is incredible and Christian has to be the most knowledgeable waterman in the region, so he’ll assess your level and get you into appropriate waves. Ka’ale has overseen a truly healthy-yet-delectable menu. There’s a lovely swimming pool right in the middle of the retreat. Each room is situated so you have privacy, comfort AND awesome views of the bay at sunset. I can’t imagine a better getaway for a surfer or non-surfer either.”

Fish caught spear fishing was a frequent delight to the already wonderful sustainable cuisine, offered in three meals a day. Inland lay hills covered in green meadows and suspenseful fog alluding to the dramatic weather found in the wet season from October to May. Changing quickly from a morning of sun to an evening of impressive rain and offshore winds. Additionally the getaway offers amenities such as cloth washing, massage, and drinks.”

They were met and blown away. We absolutely loved our stay there. The food was amazing. The hospitality was as though you were apart of the family from the second you arrived. So many activities are available and Christian is a guru when it comes to what to do and see in Sumba. We had an amazing time both in the ocean and experiencing the rich culture of Sumba.
