We have several yoga spaces, and, depending on the teachers available, an array of yoga styles to choose from. Professional, full-body massages are also available several days a week.

We have a great deal of snorkelling gear at the retreat, but by all means – if you’re serious about your underwater exploits – please bring your own.

There are numerous bird, nature, coastal, and reef walks around the retreat. These can be done with a local guide or on your own – with a map.

Sumbas beaches and shelling are truly breathtaking. If you’re craving some beach time or you’d like to explore the treasures of the shore, simply let us know and we’ll work it into the schedule.

We love to get guests out and about in the villages and onto the surrounding roads to see what Sumba is really like. A trip to a local village is often the highlight of guests’ stay.

One of the best ways to cruise through the countryside is by mountain bike. We have several top-of-the-line bikes at the retreat that guests are welcome to use.

Long range surf trips to some of the most epic waves on Sumba are right at your fingertips. Ask your guide if you’re interested in heading out to spots like Millers Right, Pero, Mengkudu, or even Komodo! It’s all well within our reach if conditions are right.

If you feel the calling, there are several stunning waterfalls to visit in Sumba. This charged activity usually turns into a full-day trip, complete with a local lunch experience and a look at the local market and/or antique store.

Offshore sport fishing can be incredible in our surrounding waters. Spanish Mackerel, Trevally, Wahoo, Barracuda, Sailfish, Marlin, and Mahi-Mahi all inhabit the nearby waters in solid numbers – so much so that in season – it can almost seem like they’re jumping into the boat. We have rods, reels, outriggers, and down-riggers for fishing in any and all conditions.

Scuba diving on Sumba offers a unique perspective into this forgotten isles ocean life.  We only offer scuba when the ocean goes flat. Her majestic turquoise waters invite us to a wide variety of dive spots – from offshore pinnacles like Magic Mountain to stunning sand-bottomed cave systems. If it does all line up for you to dive with us, you’ll likely never forget the experience!

We can arrange transport to several villages known for producing some of the finest hand-woven Ikats in the world. While the adventure is temporary, the spoils you take home last lifetimes.

Our West Sumba tour takes you through some of the most untouched valleys on the island, and we’re happy to show you some of the great sites just within a few hours drive from the retreat. Ask us if there’s something you’d really like to see and we’ll make it happen – these trips are flexible by design.

If conditions permit, we also offer kitesurfing and foilboarding experiences.

Explore the best beaches around Ngalung Kalla and the greater Sumba area. We’ll advise you tides, best times to go, and pack you a delicious lunch so you don’t get hungry on your adventure. Beaches are reached either on foot, bike, or dinghy – but we also have vehicles available for spots that are a little further away.
